Impression Instructions
HALI MOTIF ensures sustainability through using biodegradable packaging and environmentally friendly practices. To continue this movement and have a positive impact on our environment, please may you return your impressions in the packaging it arrived in so we can return your finished piece in the same packaging.
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING YOUR IMPRESSION
Important Information
- If you have a pink/blue & white putty, please contact me prior to taking impression
- If you have a preferred mould, write number 1 on the lid of the tin.
- If your impression is a double, write 'double' on the lid of the tin.
- If you would like an initial, write it on the lid of the tin.
- As there are unlimited opportunities to create your impression (wax), we have to give our customers the benefit of the doubt and assume that they are happy with the impression they are returning. However, if we believe something has happened to the impression for it to become defective that you were unaware of we will contact you.
- If there are multiple impressions and one impression is faint compared to the others, it will be assumed that you were happy with all impressions and therefore be automatically processed.
- If you have any concerns regarding your impression please contact Breanna here before returning your moulds.
Size Colour Coding
On the top of the tins you receive there will be a colour to determine the size ordered.
Yellow = Mini / Elegant Signet Ring
Orange = Small / Classic Signet Ring / Elegant Bar Pendant
Pink = Medium / Classic Bar Pendant
Blue = Large
White = Confirm with order
Studio Lead Times
- Once we receive the impression kit back from you, the processing time is approximately 4 weeks
- If you are creating numerous pieces from the one impression there may be an additional 1-2 week processing time
- You will receive an email within a week after returning your impression to inform you that it has been received.
- Due to fluctuations in metal pricing and materials we recommened returning your impression within three months. If there has been a price increase after the three months prior to you returning the moulds, there may be a fee.
To Begin
- Lay out contents.
- Place the large piece of baking paper over the size guide - this is so the wax does not stick to the size guide.
- Make sure the persons finger is not too dry - you can moisten slightly by using a moisturiser.
Warming Wax
- Warm wax by rolling the wax between clean fingers. You can use a heating device, such as a hair dryer, candle, or simple sitting in the warm sun.
- The wax is to stay in ball form and become malleable. Remove any cracks in the wax to create a smooth surface.
Preparing Impression
Single or Multiple Impression
- Mould into your desired shape (a ball will create a round impression)
- Place onto on your ordered size of design (the size guide is recommended so that the impression does not become too thin)
Double Impression
- Once the wax is soft and malleable roll into a ball
Bar Pendant or Band Ring
- Once the wax is soft and malleable, roll into a cylinder-like appearance and place on size
- Place the wax on your ordered size of design (the size guide is recommended so that the impression does not become too thin)
Taking Impression
Single Impression
- Press finger making sure that the impression does not go outside the outline of circle
- Signet rings - please ensure the impression reaches the outline of the circle on the size guide so it stays in proportion with the ring.
- Hold for 2 seconds
- Slowly and gently lift off finger
- The way the impression looks is as your finished piece will. If you do not like the look of it, you can retake it until you are happy.
Double Impression
- Evenly press both fingers together on either side of the same ball at the same time
- Hold for 2 seconds
- Slowly and gently lift off finger and gentle place on size guide
- The way the impression looks is as your finished piece will. If you do not like the look of it, you can retake it until you are happy.
Multiple Impression
- Press fingers into the impression making sure that the impression does not go outside the outline of circle
- Signet rings - please ensure the impression reaches the outline of the circle on the size guide so it stays in proportion with the ring.
- Hold for 2 seconds
- Slowly and gently lift off
- The way the impression looks is as your finished piece will. If you do not like the look of it, you can retake it until you are happy.
Bar Pendant & Band Ring
- Press fingers making sure that the impression does not go outside the outline of rectangle
- Hold for 2 seconds
- Slowly and gently lift off finger/s
- The way the impression looks is as your finished piece will. If you do not like the look of it, you can retake it until you are happy.
Setting
- Repeat this process with the other wax. Two moulds are created for safety purposes
- The way the impression looks is as your finished piece will. If you do not like the look of it, you can retake it until you are happy.
- Once you have finished, place wax in the fridge until you are ready to return - please do not at any point leave them in a heated area.
Packaging
- When you are ready to post, remove impression from the fridge and carefully lift the wax impressions from parchment paper.
- Very carefully wrap wax back in the smaller pieces of parchment paper with-out squishing the wax and place back in the container.
Returning to HALI MOTIF
- Place everything securely back into the box
- Place box into the silver insulated mailer that is inside the return post bag (if in Australia) and return to HALI MOTIF.

Impression Kit & Silicone Mould ONLY Orders
- When ordering your final piece, please write in the order notes:
"Impression kit - order number: ________"
- This way I can link the orders and refund you for the cost - If you forget to do this and an additional kit is sent, you will not be refunded for the original
- If your order included a silicone mould and you return your impression kit prior to placing an order for your finished piece then a silicone mould will be created and kept on file for when you are ready.
